Santo Domingo guide: the capital in one or two days
Santo Domingo is the natural hub of Dominican transport: nearly every guagua route in the country starts or passes here. If you travel between Punta Cana and the Samana peninsula or the north coast, it pays to stop for a few hours in the first European city of the Americas.
Unmissable Colonial Zone
The First Cathedral of the Americas, Alcazar de Colon, Calle Las Damas and Puerta del Conde. All walkable in one morning, with bus terminals 10 minutes away by Uber.
The guagua hub
Buses leave Santo Domingo for Punta Cana, Las Terrenas, Samana, Santiago and Puerto Plata all day long. Each operator has its own terminal, check your route page to know which one your bus departs from.
